The National Flag of India, affectionately called the Tiranga (tricolor), was adopted on 22 July 1947. It consists of three horizontal stripes of equal width: Deep saffron (courage and sacrifice) at the top White (peace and truth) in the middle India green (faith and prosperity) at the bottom In the centre of the white band is the navy-blue Ashoka Chakra, a 24-spoke wheel representing dharma and eternal motion. Designed by Pingali Venkayya, the flag symbolizes India's unity, strength, and rich cultural heritage. It is proudly hoisted on Independence Day (15 August), Republic Day (26 January), and by millions of Indians worldwide as a mark of national pride
